Miles Overview
The GLE-Class is Mercedes-Benz's mid-size luxury SUV, slotting between the GLC and the full-size GLS. It takes on the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Range Rover Sport in the premium three-row SUV segment. The GLE rides smoothly and quietly, with a composed demeanor that suits long highway trips. Handling is secure and predictable, though the high seating position means some body roll in corners. Inside, the cabin is plush and spacious, with comfortable seats and a user-friendly infotainment system. The GLE 63 S AMG is the range-topping performance SUV for buyers who want the most power and track-ready hardware, while the GLE 400 is the sensible luxury choice. Its handcrafted 5.5L V8 makes 577 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque, routed through a seven-speed automatic and all-wheel drive that launch it with brutal urgency. The AMG RIDE CONTROL air suspension with active anti-roll bars keeps the body flat through corners, though the ride is firm and the fuel economy is 15 mpg combined.
