Miles Overview
The 2017 Jetta is Volkswagen's compact sedan, slotting between the Golf hatchback and the Passat in size and price. It competes with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda3, offering a more European feel than most in this class. The Jetta feels composed and responsive on the road, with steering that inspires confidence in corners and on the highway. Inside, the cabin is straightforward and well-built, with a spacious trunk that owners praise for hauling gear. The SEL adds the larger touchscreen, keyless access, and leatherette seats over the SE, with the same 1.8L engine. Its 1.8L I4 makes 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic that shifts smoothly and gets 29 mpg combined. The SEL's standard sunroof and upgraded audio system give it a more premium feel without stepping up to the GLI.
