Miles Overview
The 2014 Beetle is Volkswagen's retro-styled compact, offered as a hatchback or convertible with a front-drive layout. It's genuinely fun to drive, with a smooth ride and enough pep to merge onto highways without flooring it. Inside, you get a chic cabin with nice leather details, plenty of headroom up front, and easy-to-clean surfaces. Some owners have had issues with the curved windows getting stuck and the window controls failing after water exposure. The TDI gives up the R-Line's extra power for diesel fuel economy, making it the choice for long highway commutes. Its 2.0L I4 makes 140 horsepower and with the automatic transmission it'll return strong real-world mileage, though it's not quick off the line. The TDI's diesel clatter is noticeable at idle, but it settles down once you're cruising.
