Miles Overview
The 2017 Golf GTI is Volkswagen's hot hatch, the one that made front-drive fun respectable. The ride is firm but controlled, so you feel the road without being beaten up on the daily commute. The hatchback body gives you a surprisingly roomy cargo area, and the rear seats fold flat for bigger loads. The SE adds the larger infotainment screen and keyless access over the Sport, skipping the Autobahn's adaptive dampers and leather seats to save a few thousand. Its 2.0L I4 makes 220 horsepower and pairs with the automatic transmission, giving you strong mid-range punch that makes the front-wheel drive hatchback feel eager through corners. The SE's standard lighting package includes the bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, which are a worthwhile upgrade for night driving.
