Miles Overview
The Tacoma is Toyota's mid-size pickup, a body-on-frame truck that's been a steady seller for years. It drives like a proper truck, with a sturdy feel and a ride that's a bit bouncy when empty, but it handles rough roads with confidence. The cabin is simple and functional, with durable materials and plenty of room up front, though rear legroom is tight in the Access Cab. Owners report that these trucks are extremely reliable, with many going well past 200,000 miles, though some mention a driveline vibration at highway speeds. The PreRunner sits above the base model but below the four-wheel-drive TRD trims, giving you the V6 power and lifted stance without the front differential or transfer case. Its 4.0L V6 makes 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, routed through a five-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it returns 18 mpg combined.
