The 2022 GMC Terrain is a compact SUV that slots below the Acadia, offering a more affordable entry into GMC's lineup with a choice of SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. It competes with the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape, though the Terrain leans more toward comfort than sporty handling. The ride is smooth and composed, with a quiet cabin that makes highway cruising easy, though the engine can feel strained when accelerating uphill. Inside, the Terrain offers a clean dashboard and comfortable seats, with a spacious rear seat and a useful cargo area for its class. Standard tech includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus GMC's Pro Safety suite with automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist. This SLT sits above the SLE and below the AT4 and Denali; it adds leather seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a hands-free power liftgate. The SLT uses the same 1.5L I4 making 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive that gets 26 mpg combined.
