Miles Overview
The Journey is Dodge's mid-size crossover, the one that seats up to seven when you fold up the third row. It rides smoothly and handles predictably, though the steering feels a bit numb and the brakes can be grabby. Inside, the cabin offers plenty of room for people and cargo, with hidden storage compartments and a built-in cooler in the front console. Some owners had to replace the head gasket early, and the A/C lines and ignition switch were known trouble spots. Stepping up to the R/T gets you the 3.5L V6 and a sportier suspension tune over the SXT, plus standard 19-inch wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The 3.5L V6 makes 235 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic, which gives the Journey decent highway passing power but returns 18 mpg combined. The R/T's firmer suspension and lower-profile tires sharpen cornering, but you'll feel more road imperfections than in the SXT.
