Miles Overview
The 2018 Compass is a compact SUV that slots between the Renegade and Cherokee, offering a more refined ride than the old Compass it replaced. It competes with the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape, though it leans more toward light off-road capability than those rivals. The Compass handles confidently on pavement, with a composed ride and responsive steering, though acceleration is modest with the standard engine. Inside, the cabin feels more upscale than the previous model, with available leather, a touchscreen infotainment system, and decent cargo space for the class. Reliability is a mixed bag, with some owners reporting electrical glitches and transmission quirks, but many find the Compass dependable for daily use. The Trailhawk is the off-road specialist, with Jeep's Active Drive Low 4x4, a 20:1 crawl ratio, and exclusive Rock mode in the Selec-Terrain system.
