2014 FIAT 500c Abarth

The 500c is the drop-top version of Fiat's city car, with a power-retractable cloth roof that opens three ways. It feels nimble and eager in town, and the Abarth trim adds real punch and a raspy exhaust note that makes every drive an event. The cabin is cheerful and colorful, though the rear seat is tight and the cloth seats can stain easily. There is no spare tire, so a flat means calling for a tow or relying on the onboard inflator kit. The Abarth sits above the POP with a 1.4L I4 that makes 160 horsepower, giving it a much sportier character than the base car. Paired with the five-speed manual, it's eager to rev and sounds fantastic, though fuel economy is still good at 30 mpg combined. The Abarth's stiffer suspension and quicker steering make it genuinely fun on a back road, but the ride is firm around town.
