Miles Overview
The 2002 Civic is Honda's compact car, offered as a sedan or hatchback, and it competes with the Toyota Corolla and Mazda Protegé. The Civic's light weight and quick steering make it feel nimble around town, though the base engine is modest on the highway. Inside, the Civic feels surprisingly roomy for its size, with a simple, well-laid-out dashboard and decent trunk space. Owners report that this Civic is very reliable, with many lasting well past 100,000 miles, though some mention the paint fades and the timing belt needs replacing on schedule. The LX is the well-equipped version of the base Civic, adding air conditioning and a CD player while skipping the EX's sunroof and alloy wheels. Its 1.7L I4 makes 115 horsepower and pairs with a four-speed automatic, which is smooth around town but needs a downshift for highway passing.
