Miles Overview
The Firebird is Pontiac's rear-drive pony car, sold as a hatchback or convertible in 1996. It's a sharp-handling car that feels eager through corners, though the ride gets harsh over rough pavement. The cabin is snug and low to the ground, with comfortable seats that fit like a glove, but cargo space is tight since there's no trunk. Owners love the T-tops and sporty look, but expect some electrical quirks and paint peeling as the car ages. The 5.7L V8 and standard T-tops set the Firebird apart from the V6 base model, which used a 3.8L engine and didn't offer the same exhaust note. The optional WS6 performance package adds a functional hood scoop, stiffer springs, and a limited-slip differential for sharper cornering.
