Miles Overview
The Monte Carlo is Chevrolet's front-drive personal coupe, a two-door with a back seat that's more for occasional use than daily hauling. It rides on the same platform as the Impala sedan, so it feels planted and stable, though the steering is on the light side. The cabin is roomy up front with a simple, straightforward dashboard, and the trunk is generous for a coupe. Common complaints include intake manifold gasket leaks and failing window regulators, but the drivetrain is generally dependable. The SS gets the SS-specific suspension tuning and a more aggressive exhaust note over the LS, plus standard 16-inch alloy wheels. Its 3.8L V6 pairs with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, delivering smooth power that makes merging onto the highway effortless, and it returns 21 mpg combined.
