Miles Overview
The 2001 F-150 is Ford's full-size pickup, the truck that anchors the lineup and handles everything from daily driving to serious hauling. It drives with a solid, planted feel, and the strong V8s give it plenty of muscle for towing and hauling without breaking a sweat. The cabin is roomy and comfortable, with a full back seat in SuperCab models that makes long trips or even sleeping on the road easy. Some owners mention brake and ABS light issues, and spark plugs can wear out sooner than expected, but these are manageable with regular upkeep. The Lightning is the performance F-150, the one you pick over the standard XLT when you want a street truck that handles like a sports car. Expect 13 mpg combined and a firm ride that's the trade-off for the Lightning's sharp handling and sticky tires.
