Miles Overview
The 2012 Edge is Ford's two-row midsize crossover, a roomier alternative to the Escape that competes with the likes of the Toyota Highlander and Nissan Murano. It drives smoothly and handles well for its size, though the base engine feels a bit sluggish when you need to merge onto the highway. The cabin is spacious, with a comfortable backseat that fits three adults and a cargo area that swallows bikes and bulky items easily. The available Sync system adds voice control and Bluetooth, but some owners find the Bluetooth connection glitchy and occasionally need to reset it. The 3.7L V6 makes 305 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, so it pulls hard from a stop and tracks confidently in rain or snow. You get unique 22-inch wheels and a deeper exhaust note that makes the Edge feel more like a hot hatch than a family crossover.
