2014 Ford Edge SEL

The 2014 Edge is Ford's mid-size crossover, a five-seater that sits between the Escape and Explorer in size. It drives smoothly and quietly, with a comfortable ride that soaks up bumps well, though the base engine feels a bit sluggish when you need to merge. The cabin is roomy for both rows, and the rear hatch opens to a generous cargo area that easily swallows bikes or luggage. SYNC with voice control and a backup camera come standard, but the system can be glitchy and occasionally needs a reset. The 10-way power driver's seat and leather-wrapped steering wheel set the SEL apart from the SE, while skipping the Limited's premium audio and leather upholstery. Its 3.5L V6 makes 285 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic, giving you confident passing power on the highway while returning 22 mpg combined. The SEL comes with the Reverse Sensing System and MyFord's 4.2-inch color displays, so you get the useful tech without the complexity of the Limited's MyFord Touch.
