Miles Overview
This Passat is Volkswagen's mid-size sedan, the one that gives you a big back seat and a huge trunk for the money. It rides smoothly and feels stable on the highway, though the base engine is a bit sluggish off the line. The cabin is genuinely roomy, with plenty of legroom in back and a trunk that swallows luggage for a road trip. The TDI diesel is the one to pick if you want to go 800 miles between fill-ups, but diesel fuel and maintenance cost more. The S is the base Passat, saving you thousands over the SE and SEL trims while keeping the same roomy cabin and big trunk. Its 2.5L I5 makes 170 horsepower and feels willing once you're moving, though you'll want to plan passes carefully on the highway.
