Miles Overview
The 2022 Atlas is Volkswagen's three-row family SUV, slotting above the compact Taos and taking on the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Ford Explorer. The Atlas rides smoothly and steers with a light, easy feel that suits family duty, though the base engine can feel strained when fully loaded. Inside, the Atlas offers generous space for seven or eight, with a straightforward dashboard and a large cargo area behind the third row. Standard tech includes a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, while higher trims add digital gauges and driver-assistance features. The SE is the base Atlas, and the main reason to pick it over the SE with Technology is saving a few thousand dollars. Its 2.0L I4 makes 235 horsepower and pairs with a eight-speed automatic, which feels adequate around town but works hard on highway grades.
