Miles Overview
The 2022 Atlas is Volkswagen's three-row family SUV, slotting above the compact Taos and taking on the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Ford Explorer. The Atlas rides smoothly and steers with a light, easy feel that suits family duty, though the base engine can feel strained when fully loaded. Inside, the Atlas offers generous space for seven or eight, with a straightforward dashboard and a large cargo area behind the third row. Standard tech includes a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, while higher trims add digital gauges and driver-assistance features. The SE is the base Atlas, skipping the V6 and AWD of the V6 SE W Technology and SEL for a lower starting price. With the base engine, the Atlas feels adequate around town but works harder on highway grades or with a full load of passengers.
