Miles Overview
The Atlas is Volkswagen's three-row family SUV, built in Tennessee and sized to take on the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. It drives with a steady, planted feel that suits highway cruising, and the steering is light enough for easy parking-lot maneuvers. The cabin is genuinely roomy, with a third row that fits adults on short trips and a big cargo area behind the second row. You get useful touches like a hands-free power liftgate on higher trims and plenty of cupholders and USB ports for the whole family. Choosing the SE over the base S adds alloy wheels, keyless entry, blind-spot monitoring, and a larger touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. The 2.0L I4 makes 235 horsepower and works with a eight-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, so acceleration is adequate for daily driving and the EPA rates it at 24 mpg combined. The SE can be ordered with the V6 and all-wheel drive, which gives it more pulling power for towing and better traction in snow.
