Miles Overview
The 2002 Frontier is Nissan's compact pickup, a workhorse that competes with the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. The cabin is basic and the plastic interior can show wear, but the sliding rear window is a nice touch for airflow. Owners report that these Frontiers are remarkably dependable, with many logging over 200,000 miles on the original engine. The XE is the base Frontier, a no-frills work truck that trades the V6 and four-wheel drive of the higher trims for a lower entry price. Its 2.4L I4 makes 155 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, which is enough for light hauling but feels strained on the highway. The XE comes only as a regular cab with two seats, so you get a long bed but no room for passengers.
