Miles Overview
The 2020 Maxima is Nissan's full-size sedan, the one with a sporty edge that competes with the Toyota Avalon and Buick LaCrosse. It feels quick and planted, and Sport mode sharpens the throttle and holds gears longer, though the steering is a bit numb. The cabin is well-made and looks upscale, but the backseat and trunk are tighter than you'd expect for a big sedan. Owners report few major problems, but the cloth seats stain easily and the side sensors can be overly sensitive when backing up. Sport-tuned suspension and paddle shifters set the SR apart from the SV and SL trims, giving it a sharper driving character. The 3.5L I6 makes 300 horsepower and sends power through a continuously variable automatic transmission to the front-wheel drive, which is quick off the line but can drone under hard acceleration. The SR wears 19-inch wheels and a rear spoiler as standard, and its stiffer suspension means you'll feel bumps more than in the SL.
