Miles Overview
The 2004 Wrangler is Jeep's classic off-roader, offered in several trims from the basic SE to the trail-ready Rubicon. It's happiest off the pavement, where its short wheelbase and solid axles make it a genuine trail machine. Inside, it's basic and tight, but the removable top and doors give you an open-air experience no other SUV matches. Owners report that these Wranglers are dependable and easy to work on, though some mention minor issues like leaky soft tops and radiator problems. The Unlimited is the stretched Wrangler, giving you more rear legroom and cargo space than the standard two-door SE, X, or Rubicon, but it's still a two-door. Its 4.0L I6 makes 190 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque, and with the four-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, it's a capable off-roader that returns 19 mpg combined. The longer wheelbase improves highway stability over shorter Wranglers, but it still rides like a solid-axle truck on pavement.
