Miles Overview
The 2006 Wrangler is Jeep's classic off-roader, the one you see with the top down on trails and around town. It's a blast to drive off-road, with solid axles and a low-range transfer case that let you crawl over rocks and through mud. On the highway, expect a bouncy ride and plenty of wind noise, especially with the soft top, but that's part of the Wrangler's character. Inside, it's basic and functional, with a simple dashboard and seats that are easy to hose out after a muddy trail run. Stepping up from the base SE gets you the stronger 4.0L I6 with 190 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque, along with standard air conditioning and a nicer cloth interior. That 4.0L I6 pulls strongly from low revs, and the six-speed automatic shifts smoothly, but the 15 mpg combined means you'll be filling up often. The X trim does without the Rubicon's locking differentials and rock rails, so it's better for daily driving than hardcore rock crawling.
