Miles Overview
The 2016 Sierra 1500 is GMC's full-size pickup, offered in Base, SLE, SLT, and Denali trims with a focus on upscale comfort and capability. It competes directly with the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado, but with a more premium interior and styling. The Sierra drives with a composed, planted feel on the highway, and its steering is accurate for a truck of this size. The cabin is roomy and quiet, with high-quality materials in upper trims and an easy-to-use infotainment system with available navigation. Reliability is about average for the class, with some owners noting minor electrical gremlins but few major mechanical problems. The Base trim is the work-truck choice, skipping the SLE's chrome and convenience items to keep the price down. Expect a vinyl floor and manual windows, but you get the same sturdy frame and available bed options as pricier Sierras.
