Miles Overview
The 2009 Sierra 1500 is GMC's full-size pickup, the one you cross-shop with the Silverado, F-150, and Ram 1500. It's a truck that rides like a truck, but the steering is direct and the brakes feel strong for a vehicle this size. The cabin is straightforward and built to work, with plenty of room in the crew cab and an easy-to-use dash layout. With a proper bed and strong towing ratings, this Sierra is ready for real work, and the tailgate is easy to operate. The Work Truck is the no-frills choice, so you get a V8 and four-wheel drive without the comfort touches you'd find in an SLE. The 4.8L V8 makes 295 horsepower and works with a four-speed automatic, which is adequate for daily driving but shifts more slowly than newer pickups.
