The Acadia is GMC's three-row family SUV, sized to carry up to seven or eight people depending on how you configure the seats. It drives smoothly and quietly for a big SUV, with a ride that soaks up bumps well, though you'll feel its size in tight spots. Inside, you get a roomy cabin with a walk-through to the third row, and the middle-row bucket seats make it easy to reach the back. Fold the third row down and there's plenty of room for bikes or luggage, and the split-folding seats let you mix passenger and cargo space. The SLT-1 is the mid-range pick in the Acadia lineup, adding leather upholstery and heated front seats over the cloth-trimmed SLE-2. Its 3.6L V6 makes 281 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, which returns 19 mpg combined. You can add a rearview camera and a power liftgate, both useful given the Acadia's height and blind spots.
