The Silverado 1500 is Chevrolet's full-size pickup, the one most people cross-shop with the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. The cabin is straightforward and built to work, with controls you can use while wearing gloves and plenty of room in the crew cab. Overall reliability is solid, though some owners mention occasional transmission issues and rust on older examples. The Work Truck skips the chrome, carpet, and power options of the LT to save money, but you still get the same capable full-size chassis and four-wheel drive. It uses the older 4.8L V8 paired to a four-speed automatic, so it's down on power and fuel economy versus the 5.3L trucks that get a six-speed. A regular cab and a standard bed mean you max out payload and maneuverability, at the cost of interior storage and second-row seating.
