Miles Overview
The 2004 Colorado is Chevy's compact pickup, sized to fit in a garage and easy to maneuver around town. It rides smoothly for a truck and handles well unloaded, though the smaller bed and lower towing capacity limit its utility compared to a full-size. The cab offers decent space for four adults, but the rear jump seats are cramped and the interior feels basic even by mid-2000s standards. Owners report frequent electrical issues, including faulty brake lights, radio failures, and the truck shutting down while driving. Stepping up to the LS from the Z85 gets you the stronger 3.5L I5, a nicer interior, and more standard equipment, making it the better daily driver. The 3.5L I5 pulls well from a stop and the four-speed automatic shifts smoothly, though you'll feel the engine work harder on steep grades. This LS trim can be optioned with the Z71 off-road package, which adds a locking rear differential and upgraded suspension for light trail use.
