The 2021 Silverado 2500HD is Chevrolet's heavy-duty pickup, built to tow and haul far more than the half-ton Silverado 1500. It competes head-to-head with the Ford Super Duty and Ram Heavy Duty, all vying for the same work-truck buyers. The steering is surprisingly direct for a truck this size, and the brakes feel strong even when the bed is loaded. Expect a firm, truck-like ride when empty; that stiffness is the trade-off for the heavy-duty suspension's load capability. The cabin is roomy and functional, with available leather and a large touchscreen in higher trims, plus a spacious crew cab. The LT sits one step above the Work Truck and Custom trims, adding power windows and locks, cruise control, and a larger infotainment screen. The LT can be ordered with the Z71 Off-Road package, which adds a locking rear differential, skid plates, and hill descent control for trail duty.
