The Transit is Ford's full-size work van, the one you see on job sites and delivery routes everywhere. It drives more like a big SUV than a truck, with a surprisingly car-like feel for something this size. The Transit XL is the work-spec choice, skipping some of the XLT's convenience items to keep the price down. Its 3.5L V6 makes 275 horsepower and drives the rear wheels through a ten-speed automatic, which is plenty for hauling and returns 16 mpg combined.
