Miles Overview
The 2016 F-150 is Ford's full-size pickup, facing off against the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado. The aluminum body trims hundreds of pounds, making this F-150 feel lighter and more responsive than its rivals. The cabin offers generous space, with rear seats that flip up to reveal a flat load floor for secure storage. Reliability is generally strong, though a few owners have noted minor electrical gremlins and a door-latch recall. The XL is the work-truck base of the F-150 lineup, sitting below the XLT and Lariat; you get a vinyl floor and manual locks, but the same strong frame and powertrain choices. Its 5.0L V8 makes 386 horsepower, and the automatic transmission pairs well with the rear-wheel drive for a composed, predictable feel on the highway. You can order the XL with the 5.0L V8 and rear-wheel drive, which keeps weight down and gives you a simpler, more durable setup for towing and hauling.
