Miles Overview
The Expedition MAX is Ford's largest SUV, a three-row family hauler that stretches the standard Expedition for extra cargo room. It squares off against the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, offering similar space with a more car-like ride. The turbo V6 pulls strongly from low revs, making the big SUV feel quicker than its size suggests. The ride is composed on the highway, though the long wheelbase means a firm step over sharp bumps. The Platinum is the luxury pick in the Expedition lineup, with more standard equipment than the Active and a quieter, more upscale cabin. The 3.5L V6 pairs with a ten-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, delivering smooth power that makes the big SUV feel surprisingly light on its feet. The Platinum comes with an electronic limited-slip differential and a trailer tow package, so it handles towing duty as well as it does family hauling.
