Miles Overview
The 1997 Taurus is Ford's mid-size family sedan, a common sight in driveways and fleet lots across America. It rides smoothly and handles predictably, which is what you want in a daily driver that hauls kids and groceries. The cabin is roomy enough for three car seats across the back, and the trunk is huge for a sedan its size. Parts are cheap and plentiful, and many owners report these cars easily surpassing 150,000 miles with basic care. The SHO is the performance Taurus, trading the base GL's fuel economy for a 3.4L V8 with 235 horsepower. Its 3.4L V8 makes 235 horsepower, and the automatic transmission sends it to the front-wheel drive; expect 18 mpg combined in mixed driving.
