Miles Overview
The 1998 Mustang is Ford's iconic pony car, offered as a coupe or convertible, and it's the one that defined American muscle for decades. The ride is firm and sporty, which is the trade-off for the sharp handling, and the cabin can get cramped for rear passengers. Owners note that the plastic intake manifold can crack, and spark plugs can blow out of the aluminum heads if not torqued properly. The SVT Cobra sits above the GT, with a hand-assembled version of the 4.6L V8 that makes 260 horsepower. Its 4.6L V8 pairs with a five-speed manual and rear-wheel drive, and the independent rear suspension gives it noticeably better grip than the GT's solid axle. The convertible body adds some weight and chassis flex, but the exhaust note from the Cobra's quad tips is worth the trade.
