Miles Overview
The 2000 Mustang is Ford's pony car, offered as a coupe or convertible and spanning the GT and Cobra trims. The rear-drive layout and eager V8s make it genuinely fun on a back road, though the live rear axle can step out if you're not smooth. The cabin is simple and driver-focused, with comfortable front seats and a trunk that swallows groceries, but the back seat is tight for adults. Watch for cracked plastic intake manifolds and misfires on higher-mileage examples, plus a rough time in snow without a limited-slip diff. A 4.6L V8 under the hood and a rear-drive chassis set the GT apart from the V6 Mustang below it. The GT's 4.6L V8 makes 225 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque, routed through a five-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it returns 18 mpg combined.
