Miles Overview
The 1987 Mustang is Ford's pony car, offered as a hatchback, convertible, or sedan, with the GT as the performance pick. The cabin is snug, especially in the back, so it's best for two people or short trips with kids. Owners say these Mustangs are easy to work on and cheap to fix, though rust on the rocker panels and occasional electrical gremlins are worth expecting. Stepping up to the GT from the LX brings the 5.0L V8, a firmer suspension, and the look that says you mean it. The GT convertible gives you open-air driving with the same V8 punch, but expect some cowl shake over rough pavement.
