2020 Ford Shelby GT500

The 2020 Shelby GT500 is Ford's most extreme Mustang, a track-focused coupe built to take on the Corvette and Challenger Hellcat. It's brutally quick in a straight line, but the real thrill is how it puts its power down through corners with confidence. The ride is firm and the cabin is snug, which is the trade-off for the grip and feedback you get from the track-tuned suspension. It's a two-door coupe with a usable trunk and rear seats that fold, so it can handle a weekend bag or a set of track tires. Track-bred aerodynamics and carbon-fiber components set the GT500 apart from the standard Mustang GT, making it Ford's ultimate road-legal weapon. Its 5.2L I8 produces 460 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque, sent through a seven-speed automatic to the rear-wheel drive, so you get violent acceleration and a chassis that can handle it. The available Carbon Fiber Track Package adds 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels and an adjustable rear wing, sharpening response at the expense of ride comfort.
