Miles Overview
The 2016 Ram 1500 is a full-size half-ton pickup that squares off against the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Toyota Tundra. On the road, the Ram 1500 feels composed and stable, with steering that is accurate for a truck of its size. The available air suspension delivers a remarkably smooth ride, soaking up bumps that would jolt other pickups. Inside, the cabin is spacious and quiet, with available leather upholstery and a large touchscreen that make it feel more upscale than its price suggests. The SSV is the police-package version of the Ram 1500, adding heavy-duty brakes, a reinforced frame, and cloth seats that are easy to clean over the Tradesman it's based on. It runs the 5.7L V8 with automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, so it moves with authority whether you're on patrol or hauling gear.
