Miles Overview
The 2017 Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup that squares off against the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra. The Ram 1500 rides with a composed, carlike feel, and the available air suspension smooths out rough pavement impressively. Its cabin is roomy and well built, with the RamBox cargo management system adding handy lockable storage in the bed sides. The Uconnect infotainment system is among the easiest to use in the segment, with crisp graphics and quick responses. The Lone Star is essentially a Big Horn with Texas-themed badging, so you get the same equipment level without paying for the 4WD hardware that comes standard on the Big Horn. Its 3.6L V6 makes 305 horsepower and drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic, which gives it smooth, responsive power for daily driving and light towing. The Lone Star trim is only offered in two-wheel drive, which keeps the price down and the ride simple, but you give up the off-road capability of the 4WD Big Horn.
