Miles Overview
The 2017 Grand Cherokee is Jeep's upscale midsize SUV, slotting above the Cherokee with a more premium cabin and a wider range of powertrains. It competes with the Ford Explorer, Toyota 4Runner, and Chevrolet Tahoe, offering a blend of on-road comfort and genuine off-road ability. The Grand Cherokee rides smoothly on pavement, and the available air suspension adds a plush feel, though the SRT's firm setup prioritizes handling. Inside, the cabin uses quality materials and offers generous passenger space, with a cargo area that suits family duty. Available tech includes a responsive touchscreen infotainment system, plus driver aids like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. The Summit is the luxury pick of the Grand Cherokee lineup, with a richer interior than the Overland and standard features like ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof. This Summit has the 3.6L V6 making 295 horsepower, paired with the eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, which returns 21 mpg combined. The Summit's standard air suspension smooths out rough pavement, but it's not available with the off-road hardware of the Trailhawk.
