The Wrangler is the benchmark off-roader, a body-on-frame SUV that also serves as a convertible and daily driver. It competes with the Ford Bronco and Toyota 4Runner, though the Wrangler's removable doors and fold-down windshield set it apart. On pavement the Wrangler feels truck-like and wanders a bit, but off-road it climbs rocks and crosses trails with ease. The cabin is functional and easy to clean, with available touchscreens and a rear seat that folds flat for cargo. The Sahara adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and LED lighting over the Sport S, but skips the Rubicon’s heavy-duty off-road hardware. Its 2.0L I4 makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, routed through the eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, and returns 21 mpg combined. The Sahara rides on 18-inch wheels with all-season tires, so it’s more pavement-friendly than a Rubicon but less capable on rocks.
