The Compass is Jeep's compact SUV, a smaller and more affordable alternative to the Cherokee, and it's often cross-shopped with the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V. It handles rough roads and light trails with confidence, though the engine feels a bit sluggish when you need to merge onto the highway. The cabin is straightforward and functional, with comfortable front seats, but rear legroom is tight for taller passengers. Cargo space is decent for the class, and the boxy shape makes it easy to load bulky items through the rear hatch.
