Miles Overview
The Compass is Jeep's entry-level compact SUV, the one you cross-shop with the Escape and RAV4 when you want something smaller than a Cherokee. It handles like a small car, with light steering and a tidy turning radius that makes it easy to park in tight spots. Inside, the cabin is roomy for four, with split folding rear seats and a decent cargo area for a compact. Some owners mention the side body cladding can bubble or peel, and the air conditioning may need attention after a few years. The Latitude sits between the base Sport and the top Limited, adding niceties like upgraded cloth seats and a better sound system without the Limited's leather and chrome. Its 2.4L I4 pairs with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, which is fine for pavement but means you'll want the optional 4WD if you plan to leave the road.
