Miles Overview
The 2012 Wrangler is Jeep's iconic off-roader, the one people cross-shop with the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Nissan Xterra. It's built to conquer trails, with solid axles and serious ground clearance, though the ride on pavement is bouncy and the steering feels vague. The cabin is basic and functional, with hard plastics and a simple layout, and the two-door's back seat is tight for adults. Owners mention soft tops that can leak and tire pressure sensors that act up, but the Wrangler's toughness is a big part of its appeal. The Sahara adds nicer cloth seats and body-color fenders over the Sport, but skips the Rubicon's locking differentials and rock rails. The 3.6L V6 makes 285 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed manual, and you'll see 18 mpg combined on the highway. This trim's optional side steps and upgraded sound system make daily life easier, but the ride is still bouncy on pavement.
