Miles Overview
The 2012 Wrangler is Jeep's iconic off-roader, the one people cross-shop with the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Nissan Xterra. It's built to conquer trails, with solid axles and serious ground clearance, though the ride on pavement is bouncy and the steering feels vague. The cabin is basic and functional, with hard plastics and a simple layout, and the two-door's back seat is tight for adults. Owners mention soft tops that can leak and tire pressure sensors that act up, but the Wrangler's toughness is a big part of its appeal. Manual windows and the base soft top set the Sport apart from the Sahara and Rubicon, which add power features and a nicer interior. The 3.6L V6 makes 285 horsepower, and the six-speed manual and part-time four-wheel drive give you the low-range gearing for serious trails. The Sport's steel wheels and basic cloth seats keep the price down, but you'll want to budget for air conditioning, which wasn't standard.
