Diesel prices hit a new high $4.045 a gallon
Although gas prices are rising constantly and we are facing projections of $5.00 a gallon soon, the price hikes in crude oil are not the only reason. The "spring supply crunch", which most have not heard of, is the culprit. Each spring, refiners cease production on winter grade gasoline and begin producing summer grade gasoline which leaves most suppliers in a scramble to sell off winter supplies before going forward with summer production. This creates a vacuum in the supply chain thus decreasing supply levels in turn increasing demand. This is not the only problem. The ever weakening dollar has has made crude oil even more expensive for Americans. So when will the dollar gains its strength? Many analysts forecast that the dollar and US Economy will rebound in the latter part of 2008. Until then, all we can do is wait.
